This answer is to those who have just bought MacBook Pro this Late 2011. Before going to any solution or conclusion, please try to compare the MacBook Pro (Late 2011) Battery Life benchmarking of Anandtech.com (you can find the table in the bottom part of the post). If your time record (considering the model and task) is lower than the review of that site, you can try considering these things before going back to where you bought your new laptop:
- Try to decrease brightness
- Try stopping using lots of applications running in the background like iTunes.
- Try not to connect many external devices – Some USB-connected devices recharge when connected to your laptop.
- Try considering a wired internet connection or just use Wi-Fi on simple tasks.
- Try not to use lots of CDs or DVDs most of the time.
- Try wiping the battery contacts for dusts.
- Try to fully discharge, and then recharge your battery without turning on your laptop.
- Try to use your laptop on a well-ventilated area.
- Try not to multi-task most of the time.
- Try writing a question in their forum.
If you have tried all of these and still feel you did not receive what MacBook Pro had promised, consult your retailer immediately about the problem.
